SAWATCHLAND is a profit-sharing co-op model built around the arts, local and sustainable food production and outdoor recreation, comprised of multiple divisions and operating on five income streams

REVENUE STREAM DIVISIONS

  1. Hotel

    • Retreats, hotel rooms, bar revenue, ticketed events, community meeting space

  2. Diner

    • Breakfast/lunch/coffee, open 7 days a week

    • Offering a locally and sustainably-sourced menu and featuring low-water/drought-tolerant crops such as rye bread pastries, quinoa, beans, millet and others

    • Diner will also act as the primary food service provider for breakfast/lunch at the hotel (both for retreats and when open as a boutique hotel)

  3. Outdoor Store

    • Bike and e-bike rentals and repair, stand up paddleboard and kayak rentals - river access 25 min south (Del Norte) and 45 north (Salida), hub for booking tours, guided fishing tours, eventually llama pack trips and day hikes

    • Resupply store for hikers, hunters etc.

    • Will run shuttles from the hotel to the CO trail intersection and to Joyful Journey Hot Springs

    • Advocacy group for public lands, Vista Grande Trail Project, leave-no-trace, dark sky etc.

    • Oversee bike race arm of SawatchLand Festival

  4. SawatchLand Records Media Company

    • Umbrella organization coordinating live performances at hotel, diner, bank, Esther’s Plaza, farmer’s and arts markets etc.

    • Media branch will coordinate film/photo/video artists, content creation for Youtube content (taped studio performances, SawatchLand Live, etc.) - ad revenue and placement royalties split between artists and coop

    • Rentable recording and rehearsal space for artists

    • Will oversee ‘SawatchLand Festival’ - a multi-genre music, film and arts festival and bike race, dates TBD

    • Publishing company

  5. Art Department

    • Will oversee gallery spaces and rotations, manage online art store (promoting and selling works of local and national/international artists) on the SawatchLand website

    • Will coordinate teams for extensive mural/beautification projects in Saguache and Saguache County

    • May serve as the umbrella division for interior design team

SUPPORT DIVISIONS

  1. Marketing and Social Media (MARKETING)

    • Manage websites and social media accounts for all divisions, online store, general marketing and advertising, newsletter, PR

  2. Content Creation (MEDIA)

    • Curate branded photo and video content of SawatchLand musicians/artists, ‘SawatchLand Live’ performances, events etc., supplying the marketing team and the online store with edited content for promotional/sales purposes

    • Oversee film festival arm of SawatchLand Fest

  3. Renovation/Construction (RENOVATION)

    • Oversee/execute building repairs, maintenance, fires/masonry heaters, renovations, additions, stage construction etc.

  4. Landscape/Garden (LANDSCAPING)

    • Oversee/execute/maintain landscaping of all properties

    • Focus on drought-resistant, mosquito-deterring, native plant xeriscaping techniques and organic food production

    • Will also curate and maintain extensive indoor live-plant aesthetic in the hotel, diner and bank

    • Possible greenhouse spaces to be added to this portfolio for local food production

  5. Admin/Bookkeeping (FINANCE)

    • Track revenue and expenses for all divisions

    • Payout co-op profit shares every week (total profit divided evenly among co-op members who worked THAT WEEK)

    • Co-op members = 1 share, division leaders = 2 shares

    • General accounting, bookkeeping, admin duties

  6. Personnel (HR)

    • Coordinate housing, travel, contracts, scheduling, wellness etc. for co-op members and guest artists

  7. Wellness (WELLNESS)

    • Curating an ‘atmosphere of wellness’ throughout SawatchLand

    • Scheduling wellness activities (yoga, stretching, meditation etc. as well as body work/massage sessions, psychotherapy, psychedelic assisted therapy, senior workouts, etc.) to be held in the Hempcrete Suite, the hotel ballroom, or at one of several outdoor venue

  8. App Development (APP)

    • Design and build the SawatchLand app, where users can:

      • Book rooms at the Saguache Hotel

      • Reserve the hotel for a retreat/conference/event

      • Purchase tickets for SawatchLand Festival and concerts

      • Order food for takeout from the 4th Street Diner Coffeeshop

      • Reserve a bike or river equipment, book the CO Trail/hot springs shuttle or schedule a llama pack trip to the Wheeler Geologic Area

      • Enjoy the SawatchLand Records streaming music player, featuring the music of roster and guest artists, including songs recorded at SawatchLand Records (the Bank) and during ‘SawatchLand Live’ at the hotel

      • Connect with other hotel guests and co-op members via a simple digital community platform

      • Purchase art from SawatchLand artists

      • Shop the online store, including music, books, clothing, outdoor equipment and more

      • View a calendar of all SawatchLand events
